We are delighted to announce that DRS Software has once again been shortlisted for two categories at the upcoming Leeds Digital Festival Awards 2025:

• Tech Team of the Year (Small Company)
• Leader of the Year (Martin Nyaga, Lead Developer) This recognition highlights the continued innovation, growth, and excellence at DRS, and the ambitious projects our team has delivered over the past year.

Our team has been shortlisted for the Tech Team of the Year (Small Company) award in recognition of its wide-ranging impact across multiple industries.

In healthcare, our WebAssembly expertise continues to power a global sales platform for a med-tech multinational, supporting complex diagnostics deals across 20+ countries. What began as a breakthrough modernisation project is now an evolving system that we continue to help scale, proving our ability to deliver long-term value on business-critical platforms.

In education, we launched Logisim.app, a free, browser-based port of the classic logic simulator. By removing installation hurdles and making the tool accessible on Chromebooks, tablets, and even mobile devices, we’ve enabled universities across Europe, North America, and Asia to integrate it directly into classrooms and labs. Within just a few months, it has reached thousands of students worldwide, underscoring the impact of open-source innovation when paired with the right technology.

And in 2025, we began to work on a pioneering new venture at the intersection of AI and wellbeing. Backed by respected figures in fitness and athletics, the project applies AI in a way not seen before, with the ambition to deliver measurable benefits to everyday users. With a global launch planned for 2026, it reflects our commitment to not only solving today’s problems but also exploring new frontiers where technology can create lasting value.

Together, these achievements highlight what makes DRS unique: rare domain expertise in WebAssembly, an ability to deliver at pace, and a determination to create technology that is both innovative and meaningful.

Alongside the team nomination, we’re proud that our Lead Developer, Martin Nyaga, is in the running for Leader of the Year.

Martin has been a driving force behind DRS’s growth, guiding our team through some of our most ambitious projects with clarity, patience, and technical excellence. His leadership style combines deep technical expertise with a collaborative, supportive approach that helps the whole team perform at their best.

Over the past year, Martin has played a key role in steering multiple client projects, mentoring newer team members, and ensuring our engineering standards remain world-class. His ability to balance complex technical challenges with a clear vision for delivery has made a lasting impact on both our clients and our team.

This shortlisting recognises not just Martin’s contributions to specific projects, but also the culture of excellence and innovation he fosters across DRS.
