This recognition highlights the incredible talent at DRS, and the cutting edge work our team has been up to. Here’s a closer look at what earned us these nominations.

Our team has been nominated for the Tech Team of the Year (Small Company) award in recognition of the outstanding outcomes of a critical digital transformation project that we undertook for a recent client - a global leader in medical technology.

The challenge? Modernizing a 20+ year-old legacy sales system that had become a bottleneck for the organisation’s global operations. This desktop-based application handled high value in medical equipment deals across 20+ countries, but its outdated infrastructure and unintuitive UI were holding the company back. The application desperately needed modernisation.

A traditional ground-up rewrite of the application proved impossible due to its complex business logic that had evolved over 2 decades. Our team instead took a groundbreaking approach: leveraging our WebAssembly expertise to bring the application to the web, while preserving the vast majority of its existing source code.

This innovative approach not only allowed a far more cost-effective modernisation effort, but also ensured the new platform was deployed globally years ahead of the original timeline. Learn more about the project’s success in our dedicated case study.

This nomination is a testament to the team’s technical excellence, problem-solving capabilities, and commitment to delivering ambitious, high-impact solutions for our clients.

We are equally proud of our Lead Developer, Martin Nyaga, who has been shortlisted for the Leader of the Year award. Martin’s remarkable leadership, mentorship, and technical expertise have been key to DRS Software’s success over the past several years.

He has led multiple high-stakes projects at DRS over the years, including the aforementioned digital transformation project. The nomination recognises his unique ability to break down complex technical challenges, guide his team through evolving project requirements, and maintain clear communication with stakeholders at all levels. His leadership on the recent modernisation project in particular was instrumental in delivering the upgraded sales platform ahead of schedule, far exceeding the client’s expectations.

Being shortlisted for these two awards is an incredible honour and a reflection of the collective efforts of our team and leadership. It underscores DRS Software’s commitment to innovation, technical excellence, and delivering exceptional results for our clients.
